Artist Statement

My art revolves around a deep desire to observe. To see what has been neglected and to pull out the faint hints of color not often remarked upon. I wish to be political and loud but am most comfortable masked behind a symbol, so I paint dead flowers, the rooms I sit in, and beautiful landscapes. Desperate to observe but not be observed, I do not paint faces. My art references themes of femininity, religion, domestic space, and how our ideas of the world alter the world we live in.
